HBF and Heart Foundation Alliance

Helping you live life well… for longer!

Heart disease is the number one killer of Australian women, claiming the lives of almost 11,000 women every year.  It kills more than four times the number of women who die from breast cancer.  Despite these alarming statistics many women are still not aware of the potential risks they face from heart disease and many are unaware it is a health concern that can affect them.

Through our Community Health Advocacy Program, we have partnered with the Heart Foundation to form the HBF and Heart Foundation Go Red for Women Alliance, which aims to raise both awareness of heart disease among women and raise vital funds for research that could save the lives of thousands of Western Australian women.

Through this partnership, we are supporting the Go Red for Women fundraising initiatives, including 'Go Red for Women Day'.  The Alliance will fund research to determine the current attitudes and beliefs of women in relation to heart disease, as well as explore ways to reduce the risk factors that increase a woman’s likelihood of being affected by heart disease.  Findings from this research will be made available through our website when the study is concluded.

As part of our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of West Australians, we are helping the Heart Foundation to deliver vital health information to the WA community.

You can find  more information on warning signs and living with a heart condition on the Heart Foundation website.  There is also vital information about CPR and the support available for carers of people with a heart condition.
