    Avoid the additional Medicare levy
    If you don't have private hospital cover and earn more than $70,000 pa as a single or more than $140,000 pa as a couple or family, you may be liable for an additional 1% Medicare levy.
    Switching from another fund?
    If you have qualified with another health fund, you can transfer to HBF and receive immediate benefits for an equivalent level of cover. We will also credit you with full length of membership for any time you have spent with a previous health fund.
