Waiting periods will apply to your health insurance cover if:

  • You’re a new HBF member; and/or
  • You're new to hospital cover

 

Please check the waiting periods and pre-existing conditions that apply before you claim benefits for hospital services and medical gap cover.

This is an illness or condition which, in the opinion of
a Medical Practitioner - appointed by HBF - was
known to exist, or where signs or symptoms were
evident during the six month period before you became
an HBF member or transferred to a higher level of cover.		 12 months       
Maternity - if covered 24 months    
Urgent Ambulance 7 days
Orthopaedic surgery involving joint replacement - if covered 36 months
Other hospitalisation of medical services No waiting period
Assisted reproductive services (IVF) - if covered 24 months
