The Health Minister has recently announced increases to health insurance premiums to come into effect from 1 April 2010.
As WA’s leading health fund and a not-for-profit organisation, our priority is to keep members’ premiums as low as possible. And with no shareholders to worry about, the only reason we raise premiums is to pay increased benefits to our members.
During the last financial year, HBF helped our members pay for over 166,000 hospital visits. In all we paid out $775 million in member benefits - that’s an increase of over 10% on the previous year. On any one day, over 1,400 HBF members will be in a hospital bed paid for by HBF and many more members will visit a dentist, chiropractor, optician or other health professional.
You may have questions about the latest changes to your premiums and we have tried to answer these in our frequently asked questions section.
