Making travel insurance claims after you’ve returned home from your trip is simple with HBF travel insurance.
How to make a claim:
*Make sure that you keep all original receipts and/or reports as we are not able to accept photocopies.
Given the changes associated with the spreading of the swine flu it is important to note the following points with regard to cover provided under HBF Travel Insurance policies:
Relevant Exclusion - General Exclusions
Applicable to all sections of the Policy unless otherwise stated.
We will not pay for any claim under any section of the Policy where the claim arises from:
25. A pandemic if:
(a) prior to the time that Your Certificate of Insurance is issued, the World Health Organsation has declared a global phase 4 alert due to a pandemic; and
(b) you visit any country in which there is human to human infection from that pandemic.
Policies taken prior to 27 April 2009:
As the pandemic phase had not increased to phase 4 prior to taking the policy, should the travellers proceed with their journey and become infected whilst overseas coverage will be extended for their medical and cancellation costs.
Please note - Cancellation costs incurred due to pandemic are only covered should the policy holder (or covered party) contract the disease prior to or during the journey. Disinclination to travel is specifically excluded from coverage therefore only costs incurred for cancellation due to infection by swine flu are considered.
Policies taken post 27 April 2009:
As the pandemic phase had increased to phase 4 after taking the policy, no coverage is offered under any other section of the policy should travellers be going to destinations with known human to human infections. For details on countries with known human to human infections please refer to the World Health Organisation Website, www.who.int/en/ for updated information.
Should the travellers be going to destinations with no known human to human infections then coverage will be supplied under normal policy conditions.
Please note - Cancellation costs incurred due to pandemic are only covered should the policy holder (or covered party) contract the disease prior to or during the journey to a destination with no known human to human infections. Should the travellers be going to a destination with known human to human infections then no cover will be granted for any medical or cancellation costs incurred. Disinclination to travel is specifically excluded from coverage and therefore only costs incurred for cancellation due to infection by swine flu are considered.
In all instances policy holders can exercise their choice to suspend their policy for a maximum of 12 months and delay their travel. Any costs associated with these delays are not covered under the HBF Travel Insurance policy.
