There's no place like home for HBF members

HBF and Silver Chain today announced a partnership.

HBF and Silver Chain today announced a partnership, which allows HBF members to enjoy private hospital care from the comfort of their home, without reaching into their own pocket.

Dedicated to the facilitation and provision of seamless care in the community and with a strong focus on patient wellbeing, Silver Chain Home Hospital allows patients with less severe medical conditions who would have ordinarily been admitted to a hospital, to be cared for in their own home.

HBF will provide members with a pantry pack of easily prepared meals and two hours of home care assistance to assist with cleaning, clothes washing, meal preparation and shopping where required.

HBF Managing Director, Rob Bransby, said today “As a member based organisation, HBF strive to offer our private health insurance members a more personalised health service with choices – choice of doctor and choice of hospital. In keeping with this, now members may be able to choose to receive quality hospital care in their very own home.

The program will be offered to patients with less severe medical conditions such as urinary tract and respiratory infections, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolisms and cellulitis. These members will be admitted to the program by their own GP who can oversee their progress and treatment. A Registered Nurse will monitor the patient’s condition and administer medication in the patient’s own home.

Silver Chain’s General Manager Access Care Network Australia, Ricki Smith, said “HBF and Silver Chain share a similar vision to improve the health and wellbeing of the Western Australian community, so this partnership makes great sense. HBF is the first health fund in WA, and one of the first health funds in Australia, to offer this service to their members. We congratulate HBF on seeing the advantage to their members of being able to access top quality private health care in the comfort of their own home.”

The partnership commences immediately and is available to selected members with hospital cover.
