As well as being fully covered for theatre fees and a single room in any hospital in Australia (unless you’re a nursing home-type patient) you’ll also get 90-100% back on 36 Essentials services up to your annual maximum. Here are a few ways to get the most value from your health insurance:

Get 90% back at any dentist of your choice. If you choose to go to an HBF Participating Dental Provider you can also get a fully covered scale and clean each year.
Need new glasses? We have more Participating Optical Stores in WA than any other fund. Visit one of these stores and you’ll get hundreds more frames fully covered, plus at least 20% discount on most designer frames in addition to your usual benefit which is $350.
If something happens and you’re unable to work, we won’t abandon you. We’ll give you complimentary private health insurance cover for up to nine months. Because the last thing you need to think about at a time like that is paying your health cover. Some conditions do apply so please ask us for more details.

A few points to note:

If you’re a nursing home type patient, HBF only covers a portion of the benefit per day and you must pay an uninsurable contribution towards your care that is set by the government.
You’re fully covered for theatre costs except for procedures that are not eligible for the Medicare benefit, such as cosmetic surgery.
Waiting periods and pre-existing waiting periods also apply.
