The countdown has begun to the first ever HBF Run for a Reason presented by The West Australian. The inaugural event has already exceeded its participation target of 7,500.
With five days to go 8,500 people have registered to run, walk, jog or stroll for a Reason on Sunday, 23 May and numbers continue to climb.
However the clock is ticking and to take part people must register before event day, Sunday 23 May.
Online registrations can be made until 8pm tonight at hbfrun.com.au. After that people can sign up in person for either the Act-Belong-Commit 4.5km run/walk or the more challenging 14km Act-Belong-Commit course through the Northbridge Tunnel at the HBF Marquee in Forrest Chase everyday from tomorrow until Saturday.
Registered participants can also collect their packs from the marquee where HBF will also be conducting free health checks, consisting of blood pressure, cholesterol, height, weight and BMI checks.
HBF Managing Director Rob Bransby is already thrilled with the response to the event.
“The buzz this event has generated has been absolutely fantastic. With five days to go we’ve easily beaten our target for registrations and we’ve already raised $150,000 for chronic disease charities,” Rob said.
“We think there’s every chance this will become a fixture in Perth’s event calendar.
“In years to come some people will be able to say that they have taken part in every HBF Run for a Reason ever staged – but only if they’ve signed up for the very first one this weekend!”
