HBF welcomes new babies with an old friend

Newborn HBF members will soon have a special friend to cuddle from their first day in the world – someone their parents may have had a soft spot for years ago.

For the next year, to commemorate its 70th anniversary, HBF is giving the parents of newborn HBF members, a special replica of ‘Ted’, the popular character from HBF advertising of the 1990s.

New mums and dads who have their baby in a private hospital will receive their ‘Ted’ in person from an HBF Hospital Liaison Officer.  The HLOs visit private hospitals in Perth and Geraldton to provide a personal service to HBF patients.

HBF parents who have their child in a public hospital will have their ‘Ted’ mailed to them as soon as their new baby is added to their policy.

Rob Bransby, Managing Director of HBF said it was a limited edition gift to welcome the newest HBF members in a special year for HBF.

“We have coaxed Ted out of retirement to help us celebrate our special anniversary with our youngest members but we aren’t expecting him to make any other appearances.”

“Every year HBF helps welcome nearly 6,000 babies into the world.  It’s a great feeling to be able to help new mums and dads access the best in private health at a time they want the very best of care.

“We’ve been helping new parents with the arrival of their new baby since we formed in 1941.  We’ve probably helped bring nearly a quarter of a million West Australians into the world and many of those people are still HBF members today.”
