For the first time in Perth’s fun run history, the 2011 HBF Run for a Reason will be asking participants to choose a team – divided by the natural border of our city, the Swan River.
The Teams will also be wearing different colours, which were unveiled along with their Team Captains:
- Lachy Reid for NORTH in white
- Andrea Burns for SOUTH in blue
“Perth people are very passionate about their side of the river and it really is the perfect city to take up this challenge,” said HBF Managing Director Rob Bransby.
“It will create a friendly rivalry that I think will generate a lot of fun challenges and healthy competition in terms of participants and their fundraising goals.”
The Team Captains today took their rivalry to the (friendly) limit, challenging each other with achievable and unrealistic goals, including who can get the largest Team together, how much can be raised from either side, and even which side of the river does the best post-workout coffee.
Registrations for the 2011 HBF Run for a Reason open today via www.hbfrun.com.au for either the Act-Belong-Commit 4.5km or the more challenging 14km course. Both will start and finish at the WACA.
“You’ll not only help yourself by committing to the HBF Run for a Reason, but you can also help make a difference by fundraising for one of the six chronic disease charity event partners – Arthritis WA, Asthma Foundation WA, Cancer Council WA, Diabetes WA, Heart Foundation WA and Lifeline WA.” said Mr Bransby
“Over $255,000 was raised in 2010 and we’re hoping to raise even more in 2011.”
So pick a Team to join and register now.
This year will be bigger and better than ever, and it’s only just begun.
