Perfect poached eggs are within your reach at home. Sports dietitian Julie Meek shares
an easy, one-minute trick.
Eggs are full of vitamins, minerals and good quality protein, making
them a great healthy choice for breakfast, snacks or tossed over a
salad.1
But poaching an egg can take a bit of skill, time and effort. This
microwave trick makes it easy – and it only takes around a minute.
Method
-
Fill a coffee mug to ¾ full with water and gently crack an egg into
the water.
-
Cover with a small plate (just in case there’s an egg explosion no
one will want to clean up!) and place into the microwave.
-
Cook on high for 1 minute. If the egg needs a little longer, cook
for another 10 seconds at a time until it's ready.
-
Gently remove the egg from the mug with a slotted spoon and serve
on your favourite slice of toast.
Tip:
The exact cooking time will vary depending on your microwave and the
size and age of the egg – you might need to play around to find the
perfect time for you.
