What do I do if I am involved in a car accident?

The most important thing to do is to make sure you and everyone in your car is safe. If anyone is injured or needs help, call 000 immediately. Once you are safe and your situation has settled, please call our Claims Department on 1300 133 520. Our team will guide you through the claims process and help organise repairs for your vehicle and arrange towing if required.

If possible, please collect the details of the other driver and witnesses to the accident, including their name, address, vehicle registration and contact telephone number. Also record the time, date and exact location of the accident and take photos of the accident with your phone.

What is a low km comprehensive car policy?

Your premium will be calculated on the basis that your car will be driven by no more than two drivers who are 25 years of age or over, and will not be driven more than 10,000 kilometres per year.

What is the no claim bonus?

The no claim bonus is a discount we apply to your premium to reward you for safe driving. We’ll reward you with a discount each year that you don’t make an at-fault claim, until you reach the maximum no claim bonus.

If I have an accident, will my no claim bonus be affected?

If you’re involved in an accident and we agree that you are not at fault, we will not reduce your no claim bonus, if:

  • you provide us with the name, current residential address and vehicle registration of the person who did cause the incident; or
  • your claim is for damage caused by a storm or other naturally occurring event.

If you make a claim for an accident that you caused, your no claim bonus will be reduced when you renew your policy.

What are nominated drivers?

A nominated driver is someone that you have informed us will be driving your car.

With our Nominated Driver policies, you can have a maximum of two nominated drivers. All nominated drivers must be over the age of 25, as no cover is provided to any driver under the age of 25. If someone, other than a Nominated Driver, over the age of 25 was driving your vehicle and is involved in an accident, a double basic excess will be applied to the claim. All nominated drivers will be listed on your policy schedule.
