When you’re covered by HBF, you receive accommodation benefits which include the fees charged for your room in a private or public hospital. Depending on your level of cover, you may need to pay co-payments.
When you’re admitted to hospital, a lot of things happen that incur costs. 93.6% of hospital charges in WA are covered for HBF members. This means more cover for you if you go to hospital.
Other hospital benefits
In addition to accommodation benefits, HBF members receive theatre and labour ward, medical (fees charged by your surgeon, anaesthetist and pathology), pharmacy (some of the pharmaceuticals administered during your stay) and prostheses (fees charged for any prostheses used during your procedures) benefits.
What our staff say
Christine Coleman, Hospital Liaison Officer
"I am one of the HBF Hospital Liaison Officers and have the pleasure of working full time at St John of God Subiaco. Apart from the fantastic service you receive from hospital staff, we are also there to provide personal support to members and their families with their private health insurance. This role is such an important and valuable service and I feel privileged to meet and assist so many members during their greatest time of need. We take great pleasure in being able to take some of the burden away from members, so they can focus on their recovery without having to worry about their private health insurance."
