Health cover starts from only $153.251 pa - $2161 pa for Extras cover and $594.352 pa - $837.602 pa for Hospital cover and as an HBF member, you stand to receive numerous benefits:
More money back
With over 900,000 members, we give more money back to more people in Western Australia than any other health fund.
We give you more choice
Our members can choose from more Member Plus hospitals, dentists and optical stores in WA than any other major health fund.
Better dental benefits
More people claim on dental than any other Extras service. So we focus on giving you more back when you visit a dentist. According to PHIO State of the Health Funds Report 2013, on average, we pay more benefits for covered dental treatments than any other major health fund in WA3. Plus, most HBF members have no annual limit on general dental.
Here for you in hospital
We have dedicated Hospital Liaison Officers in most private hospitals in WA, who on average visit 85% of members staying overnight in Member Plus hospitals in WA. Our Hospital Liaison Officers are on hand to help you understand your HBF cover and the sometimes complicated hospital bills and claims paperwork, so that you can focus on recovery.
We also have support programs for members with diabetes or heart conditions, to help you manage and improve your health after you've been in hospital.
HBF members are happier (and healthier)
How do we know? We have over half a million members who have been with us for more than ten years. Our members have chosen the fund that supports healthy bodies, and with HBF as your health partner you'll also have access to a huge range of real things to help you stay happy and healthy - like free training sessions at your local park, discounted entry to community events and fully covered heart health programs. Find out more about how HBF can help you to stay happy and healthy.
We're not for profit, we're for your health
So our premium increase this year is once again lower than all other major health funds, including Bupa and Medibank. We also recognise that getting the best health insurance is more than getting the best price, so we work harder to provide our members access to the best care.
If you are transferring from an overseas health fund or from another private health insurer, we will recognise the waiting periods that you've already served, so you don't have to re-serve them with us. Enjoy the benefits straight away on services such as major dental, maternity and podiatry if you were already on a similar level of cover.
We have fewer gaps
HBF members are fully covered for 82% of all medical treatments in WA hospitals - that's higher than the industry average4. This means if you need to go to hospital, you're most likely to have no gap to pay for your procedure. As for the total hospital bill (including charges such as accommodation, theatre, prosthesis and in-hospital pharmacy), on average we cover 94.4% of charges in WA. This is more than any other major health fund.
WA is our home too
HBF has been a proud WA local for over 70 years. We have 19 branches in WA if you'd prefer to speak to someone face to face, and if you want to call us, our team are on the same time as you are.
It also means we know the WA health system like no one else, and can really help our members lead healthier lives with initiatives like HBF Run for a Reason and free outdoor fitness sessions.
WA's most trusted health partner
Over 900,000 members currently trust HBF to look after their health. For 70 years, HBF has been the largest health insurer in WA so no-one knows the local health system better.

Switch from your current Australian health fund and we will recognise your full length of membership.
