your health fund, which will help cover the cost of your treatment. There are two main types
of health insurance: hospital and extras. You can buy these separately, or as a combined package.
You can also get health insurance just to cover ambulance.
Hospital insurance helps cover costs when you’re admitted to hospital. It includes things
like your doctor’s fees, accommodation and theatre fees. If you’re a high income earner,
with an appropriate level of hospital insurance, you won’t have to pay the Medicare Levy
Extras insurance helps cover the cost of everyday health care services where Medicare doesn’t
generally pay a benefit, like a visit to the dentist, optometrist or physio. Extras insurance
does not help you avoid the Medicare Levy Surcharge; for that you need appropriate hospital
