Disaster relief package

HBF provides premium relief for members impacted by floods in Queensland and New South Wales

HBF, one of Australia's fastest growing private health insurers, is offering its members impacted by the floods in South East Queensland and NSW three months of premium relief on their health insurance.

The premium relief is being offered under HBF's disaster relief package to support its members experiencing the impacts of the floods. In addition to providing premium relief, HBF will be supporting impacted communities directly by donating to the flood disaster relief and recovery efforts, with details to be confirmed shortly.

HBF Executive General Manager - Member Experience, Selina Torrance, said: "It is heartbreaking to see the scale of devastation across South East Queensland and NSW, and it is difficult to imagine the shock and uncertainty people living in those areas are now facing.

“HBF's commitment is to be there for our members in the moments that matter, and we have implemented this relief package to bring some financial relief and support to our members impacted by these tragic floods.”

To be eligible for support, members must have held a health insurance policy with HBF or its CUA Health subsidiary on 24 February 2022, be a current HBF member, and provide evidence that they have received the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment in relation to the 2022 floods. HBF's flood Disaster Relief Package applications are open until 1 June 2022.

If members still require support after receiving three months' premium relief, they may be eligible to use HBF's hardship waiver until 1 September 2022 to extend this support by suspending their health insurance cover for up to six months.
