HBF members will now be able to use their Apple Wallet on their iPhone and Apple Watch to claim for Extras simply and securely.
HBF’s digital member card can now be uploaded to Apple Wallet, allowing members to make an Extras claim by simply tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch at any HICAPS terminal in Australia.
HBF Executive General Manager – Member Experience, Selina Torrance, said a digital member card was part of HBF’s business transformation to provide greater convenience and flexibility for members.
“This is an exciting member benefit and it’s simple to use – members can claim any of their covered Extras services with just a tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch,” she said.
“It means members can make claims without having to hand over a physical card anymore or touch the terminal.
“The digital member card is just one part of a significant investment at HBF to transform our business to improve our member experience.
“We’re striving to deliver the best member experience in all of our digital channels so that members can manage their health cover their way.”
Members can add their HBF member card to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch using the HBF App. Once logged in, they’ll find set-up instructions within the App, which can also be viewed on the HBF website.
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Wallet. When customers add a health insurance membership card to Apple Wallet, information is stored on the user's device and encrypted with the user's passcode. Apple doesn’t receive any information about the health insurance claim as there is a direct, encrypted connection between the user’s device and the HICAPS terminal.
For HBF members using an Android device, they can access their digital member card via the HBF App. To set up, they simply need to follow the in-app instructions.
