Thanks for volunteering for HBF Run for a Reason
Volunteer registrations for the 2025 event have now closed
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has registered to volunteer at pack collection or on event day. Your contribution plays a vital role in bringing HBF Run for a Reason to life. Volunteering is not only incredibly rewarding, but also a fantastic way to experience the event from a unique and inspiring perspective.
This event wouldn't be possible without the incredible dedication of our hundreds of amazing volunteers, and the support of our volunteer sponsor, HBF Physio by Life Ready.
All volunteers should now have received their information pack, which outlines your role, requirements, meeting point, and start time. If you haven’t received yours, please reach out to us at volunteer@hbfrun.com.au.
If your circumstances have changed and you’re no longer able to volunteer, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing volunteer@hbfrun.com.au.
We can’t pull off this event without you. We look forward to working with you all to deliver a fun, safe and successful event.

Pack collection volunteers
Where: Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre

City of Perth Bag drop volunteers
Where: Perth CBD
Help participants keep their belongings safe by managing the City of Perth Bag Drop at Perth CBD. Your role includes organising and overseeing bag storage, ensuring items are placed in order, and returning bags when participants come back to collect them. This role is all about organisation and will involve a little light lifting.
Start line volunteers
Where: Perth CBD
Ready, set, volunteer! Start line volunteers help organise participants by their wave groups (indicated by coloured bibs), ensuring a smooth start to the race.
Finish line volunteers
Where: Gloucester Park
Finish line volunteers greet participants as they complete their journey, guiding them to the recovery and medal areas and ensuring everyone has a fantastic finish experience.
Recovery volunteers
Where: Gloucester Park
Help participants recover after their race by refilling cups of water, restocking fruit, and tidying the recovery area. It’s a busy but rewarding role, where you’ll get to share in the excitement and keep an eye out for anyone needing medical attention.
Medal volunteers
Where: Gloucester Park
Celebrate the achievements of participants by handing out medals as they cross the finish line. With medals for different distances, your role is to ensure every finisher gets their well-deserved reward. The excitement of both kids and adults makes this one of the most uplifting volunteer roles!
Aid station volunteers
Where: Along the course
Be in the thick of the action at an aid station! Volunteers hand out water, restock supplies, and keep the area clean. You’ll also provide encouragement and support to participants – your cheers and high-fives can make a big difference to someone pushing through the race.
Course marshals
Where: Along the course
Be the eyes and ears of the course as a course marshal. Positioned at key points, you’ll help ensure the race runs smoothly, watching for lost children or medical situations. This role requires great communication skills. You’ll have access to emergency contacts for support if needed.
