Eligibility for a fully covered* flu vaccination

HBF provides benefits for one fully covered flu vaccination per year for eligible members. Before receiving your flu vaccination, check the eligibility criteria below:

  • You must be covered for Healthy Living Programs on your Extras cover
  • You must have served the 2-month waiting period
  • You must receive your vaccination at a Member Plus Pharmacy
  • You must be aged 10 years or above

Flu vac FAQs

Will HBF refund my benefit if I get flu vaccination through another pharmacy or GP?

No. HBF will only pay a benefit for a flu vaccination received at a Terry White Chemmart. If you received a flu vaccination from a non-Member Plus Pharmacy in 2021, you may be eligible to have it covered. To find out if you’re eligible call us on 133 423.

Do I need an appointment to get a flu vaccination?

If you attend a Terry White Chemmart, you can call to book or walk-in at a time that suits you.

When is the flu season?

The Australian Government Department of Health advises that the period of peak influenza circulation is typically June to September in most parts of Australia.

What’s the eligibility criteria and how do I find out if I’m eligible?

You’re eligible for a fully covered flu vaccination if you meet the following criteria:
  • You’re covered for Healthy Living Programs on your Extras cover,
  • You’ve served your 2-month waiting period,
  • You’re aged 10 years or above, and
  • You received your vaccination at a Member Plus Pharmacy (Terry White Chemmart is a Member Plus Pharmacy)

Do I need to pay for the flu vaccination?

Visit any participating Terry White Chemmart and you will be able to claim your fully covered Flu vaccination with no out of pocket cost.

Is it okay to get both a flu vaccination and a COVID-19 vaccination?

The Australian Government Department of Health advises that COVID-19 vaccines can safely and effectively be given on the same day as flu vaccines. According to the advice, it is safe to get both vaccines, and there is no need to wait between getting a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu vaccine.
