Year at a glance

Here’s what we’ve been up to this year, and what it means for you.

You’re with a not-for-profit health fund.
That means we put you first.

Here’s how we’re giving back.

given back to members

We returned approximately $42 million back to our members, as a result of surplus funds due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Things to get excited about

  • Developing dental

Here’s to quality and affordable dental care, 7 days a week. We opened three HBF Dental Centres in 2021 – with plans for up to 12 more in coming years.

  • A focus on health

In order to focus on supporting members’ health, we exited home, motor, landlord and leisure insurance.

  • An even better HBF App

You can now use your phone to tap and claim for your covered extras services.* We look forward to adding even more improvements this year.

  • Giving back to members

89.7 cents returned in every dollar we received in premiums back to members as claims.

Playing our part in the community

We helped raise $205,000 for Telethon this year through the HBF Fitness Challenge!
To be there when you need us, we opened or upgraded branches in Booragoon, Joondalup, Mandurah, Albany, Karrinyup and Kalgoorlie.
Our small grant to Full Circle Therapies was used to build this new playground for kids with Autism in Goldfields, WA.
A team of 50 HBF volunteers hopped the ferry to Rottnest this year! They tended to some young trees and shrubs to help make sure our beloved quokkas have a sustainable home.
And a small grant to the Multicultural Communities Council of WA will help fund a six-month program to deliver mental health awareness and education seminars for local communities and service providers.
