Our travel insurance policy covers you for unforeseen events.
As a result of the increased warnings from Indonesia and the increasing likelihood of eruption from Mount Agung, there is no cover for claims arising from volcanic activity for any travel insurance policies purchased after 7:30am (WST) Friday 29 September 2017, as this is no longer an unforeseen event.
If you purchased your travel insurance policy prior to 7:30am (WST) Friday 29 September 2017 cover is available for claims resulting from the volcanic eruption within the terms and conditions of the policy.
- For members who are yet to travel, we will cover rescheduling or cancellation should they be unable to travel on their journey if they are impacted by the volcanic eruption
- For members already travelling we will cover the reasonable costs of additional accommodation and travel expenses that result from being delayed due to the volcanic eruption
At this time, there is no cover for cancellation costs due to the threat of an eruption for new or existing policies. There is however cover for people impacted by the evacuation zone declared by the Indonesian authorities.
All claims submitted will be assessed on a case by case basis, taking into consideration the individual circumstances. The insured must take all reasonable steps to minimise a claim and keep documentation in support of their claim.
We will work through the individual circumstances of each claim should our members be affected. We recommend travellers monitor the Federal Government's Smart Traveller website for advice and updates.
