Orthodontics is included in HBF Core Extras, Complete 60 and Top 70 extras covers. Once you have picked an extras product that suits your needs, you can sign up online in just a few minutes or contact us to discuss your options.

Serve any applicable waiting periods

If you are new to private health insurance, you will need to serve waiting periods. If you are switching from another policy or fund, waiting periods may apply so please contact us before starting treatment.

You can check your orthodontics benefits and annual limits by logging into the HBF App or myHBF. To get an extras benefit quote, you’ll just need a service quote from your orthodontics provider before calling us on 133 423.

When you buy extras insurance for the first time, there will generally be a waiting period you need to serve before you can claim if you haven't had continuous cover, or if you've just upgraded to a higher level of cover.

At HBF, you can get cover for Orthodontics on HBF Core Extras, Complete 60 and Top 70 extras covers. You will need to serve a 12-month waiting period before you can claim on Orthodontics. Keep in mind, Orthodontics is subject to a lifetime limit, which means if you reach your lifetime limit either with another fund or with HBF, we will not pay any further benefits towards orthodontic treatment for the duration of your membership, even if you cancel your policy and re-join in future.

No. We will only pay benefits on services provided by HBF approved providers for orthodontic treatment received in clinic.
