Returning for its 14th year in Perth on Sunday 24 May, this event brings people together to run, walk or wheel for their health, their community and causes close to their hearts. Early bird pricing is available for a limited time only, closing Tuesday 3 March.

HBF CEO Dr Lachlan Henderson said the early bird period is about giving people certainty, motivation and something positive to look forward to.

“HBF Run for a Reason has become a fixture on the WA calendar. Whether your training starts now or it's a fun day out for family and friends, this event is for everyone,” Dr Henderson said.

“Some come to challenge themselves physically, others come for the social side, and many take part to support a cause that matters to them. Early bird is the moment where people lock in that decision and commit to the journey and getting in early means saving 30% off the entry fee before prices increase.”

Last year, 40,000 participants raised more than $2 million for more than 350 charities, and participant satisfaction reached a record high, with 92 per cent of participants planning to return this year.

Active-based community groups are already planning their involvement in the event, including The Running Centre, a Perth-based running community that supports mental wellbeing through movement, training and connection.

“Running has the ability to bring people together and support both physical and mental wellbeing,” said The Running Centre’s Director, Raf Baugh.

“HBF Run for a Reason gives runners a clear goal to work towards, while also creating a strong sense of purpose and community, inspiring people to start their health and fitness journey and take a more longitudinal approach to wellbeing that extends well beyond race day. It’s an event that motivates people to train together and be part of something bigger.”

Participants can choose from the CommBank 3km, Specsavers 12km, or the Brooks Half Marathon (21km), with each distance designed to be inclusive, well-supported and packed with on-course entertainment from start to finish.

Dr Henderson said the event continues to reflect HBF’s broader commitment to community wellbeing.

“As a not-for-profit health fund, supporting initiatives like HBF Run for a Reason aligns directly with our purpose,” he said.

“When people come together to move for their health and raise funds for vital charities, the benefits extend well beyond race day.”

Early bird pricing is available for a limited time and closes on Tuesday 3 March. HBF members can save 30% off the entry fee during early bird and will continue to receive an extra 20% throughout the registration period however, participants are encouraged to register early to avoid missing out.
