How to add to your iPhone

Requires iPhone (6 or later)

  1. Step one

    Open the HBF App on your iPhone, then on the dashboard, scroll down to "Digital card" and tap "Get your digital member card".

  2. Step two

    Read the terms and conditions, and Tap “Add to Apple Wallet” button at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Step three

    In the top right corner tap add. Your digital member card is ready. Find it in your Apple Wallet.

Claiming with your iPhone or Apple Watch

  1. Step 1.

    On iPhone with Face ID and Apple Watch, double-click the side button. On iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the Home Button from the Lock Screen.

  2. Step 2.

    Choose your HBF card in Wallet. Apple wallet icon

    Hold your device near the reader.* Wireless device icon

    If you have multiple members on your card, you can get the Patient ID by tapping Apple's option icon when viewing the pass, or from the HBF App.

How to claim with the HBF Digital Card?

To process your health claim with iPhone or Apple Watch:

Step 1. On iPhone with Face ID and Apple Watch, double-click the Side Button. On iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the Home Button from the Lock Screen.

Step 2. Choose your HBF card in Wallet.

Step 3. Hold your device near the reader.

If you have multiple members on your card, you can get the Patient ID by tapping when viewing the pass, or from the HBF App.

Where can I use my HBF Digital Card?

You can use your HBF Digital Card at any provider with a HICAPS terminal for your covered extras services. It’s important to note that you won’t be able to use your HBF Digital Card for any hospital related claims or for claiming your Momentum member benefits.

Do I have to set up my HBF Digital Card separately on my Apple Watch?

No, if you set up your HBF Digital Card on your iPhone it will automatically be added to your Apple Wallet on your Apple Watch.

What do I need to know before I make a claim?

Before making a claim, make sure you’re covered by checking your limits and usage in the HBF App. Also check that the service is covered on your policy before receiving treatment. You can see this easily by tapping “View limits and usage” on the App home-screen or in myHBF.

What if I lose my plastic card? Do I need a plastic card if I have a digital card?

If you have your HBF Digital Card you don’t need your plastic card to claim for your covered extras services. You can still request a new plastic card through the HBF App, myHBF or by calling us.

If you lose your plastic card you will still be able to claim using your HBF Digital Card, however, please call us on 133 423 so we can deactivate your old plastic card and issue you a new one.

For new members, we will still send you a plastic card which can take up to 7 working days to arrive depending on where you live.

How do I claim for others on my policy?

If you have multiple members on your card, you can get the Patient ID by tapping "..." when viewing the pass, or from the HBF App.

What happens to my HBF Digital Card if I need to update my details?

When you make any changes to your personal details or policy, such as changing your name, your HBF Digital Card will be automatically updated overnight and be available for your use the following day. We will also issue you a new plastic card with your updated information.
