Expanded benefits for Value 50

From Sunday 23rd of August, we’re boosting your Optical benefits and giving you more to claim for dental treatment. Your higher combined dental limit will be able to be used for Preventative and Restorative General Dental, and Major Dental and Implants*.

Skip straight to:

Higher Optical limit

$200 per person ($400 per policy for couples / families) for prescription glasses, contact lenses, eye tests and more.

More dental services covered

You’ll be able to claim for Major Dental and Implants*, which includes crowns, root canals, bridges, dentures and implants.

Higher combined dental limit

$500 per person ($1,000 per policy for couples / families) for all dental treatments (excludes orthodontics).

From Sunday 23rd of August 2026, Value 50 will include benefits for:

  • Preventative Dental
  • General Restorative Dental
  • Major Dental and Implants* (new service)

These services will share a combined dental annual limit of $500 per person ($1,000 per policy for couples and families).

A 12-month waiting period applies to Major Dental and Implants. If you had extras cover previously and recently changed to Value 50, your waiting period for Major Dental and Implants may be less than 12 months. Log in to the HBF App or myHBF to check which waiting periods apply to you.

If you transferred to Value 50 from another product that included Major Dental and Implants, you may not need to re-serve this waiting period.

If you've only served part of the waiting period, you'll just need to serve the remaining time before you can claim benefits for Major Dental and Implants. Log in to the HBF App or myHBF to check which waiting periods apply to you.

There are no additional waiting periods you need to serve as part of this change. You can access the higher limit straight away, provided you’re not serving an existing waiting period for these services.
No, the cost of your policy will not increase as a result of these changes to Value 50.

You'll need to serve a 2‑month waiting period before you can claim for most Value 50 treatments.

A 12‑month waiting period applies to Major Dental and Implants.

Yes. If you've served the 2‑month waiting period for Preventative and Restorative General Dental, you can still claim for those treatments.

To claim for Major Dental and Implants, you'll need to complete the 12‑month waiting period first. This waiting period commences from when you first purchased Value 50. If you transferred to Value 50 from another product that included Major Dental and Implants, you may not need to re-serve this waiting period.
