HBF regrets to advise it has cancelled the 2020 Run for a Reason as well as the Autumn season of its HBF Fitness program as a precaution against COVID-19.
“Our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our members, event participants and the wider community,” HBF Chief Executive Officer John Van der Wielen said.
“We believe it is prudent not to stage large-scale community activities given the risk of spreading COVID-19."
Registrations for HBF Run for a Reason have officially closed, with full refunds to take effect from Monday 16 March. Fundraising pages on the website, however, will remain open – allowing West Australians to continue to support more than 190 charities which rely heavily on the donations of participants each year.
Registrations for the Autumn season of HBF Fitness have also closed.
“HBF hasn’t taken this decision lightly and we share the disappointment that we know will be felt by the thousands of participants who have put so much effort into their training, the hundreds of people who generously volunteer on the day, and the WA health charities which benefit from the event," John said.
“We will explore a range of options to support these beneficiaries.”
